5 MINUTES STUDENT CENTER UPDATE HEATHER ENNIS
DISCUSSION Gym- under construction. Floor, seismic, sprinkler.
New art exhibit Feb 7th. appetizers. Mug a Joe March 16th 12pm with waterfront construction update.
Stress relief day in lounge upstairs with 4-5 massage therapists. March 16 2-6pm
PhD comics screening? Heather will look into price >$500 Will be in Media room and limit around 50 people.

CONCLUSIONS Spring intramurals on schedule to start April 9. Mid march registration starts. on website.
Mon, Feb 6 Pizza and beer for Blazer game
Feb 15 1st in Documentary series, more to come in the following weeks-info up on kiosk and website



15 MINUTES SOCIAL EVENT PROPOSAL KELLY AND CRISTINA
DISCUSSION West campus is holding a pub night on March 2.
We’d like to have a joint event to socialize west and main campuses before research week. We propose bowling or game night in Portland/Main hill vicinity.
VJ Patel VP all hill had foosball big hit. Think about this type of event in future for all hill
CONCLUSIONS People are interested. We will investigate our options for game night in gym.

5 MINUTES RESEARCH WEEK UPDATE ALLISON
DISCUSSION Planning is going well. Fundraising is starting. Budget around $40000 (not all GSO) but will be raised.
Sending out requests to heads of departments to not cancel classes, maybe reschedule or schedule no tests.
Student presentations Mon-Thurs (heavy on Thursday)
CONCLUSIONS Abstract submissions open through the first 3 weeks of March.
Please volunteer to fill in for Alison next year and email her so you can come in to an example meeting this year. Kelly is interested in this role.

5 MINUTES SUMMARY OF GSO-SPONSORED FINANCIAL TALK DEREK
DISCUSSION Good discussion. Great, pointed discussion.


CONCLUSIONS Saving early is best. There’s a work around whole life insurance instead of IRA. We do not qualify for IRAs as student.

5 MINUTES FUNDING REQUEST TO SPONSOR A TAX TALK IN MARCH DEREK
DISCUSSION Did one last year. Talked to Allison, Grad Affairs will cosponsor. $1000 total. Last year we split it in 2.
Criticism of last year: no guide was actually written to help us that was ever provided. Tax attorneys cannot give explicit advice.
Powerpoint from last year is still online. Good examples: look into Oregon Housing credit.
CONCLUSIONS
Students should get together and give eachother advice. Perhaps get together after the talk.

5 MINUTES GSO SKI TRIP CONCLUSION Anita Cservenka & John Harkness
DISCUSSION Trip is planned. House is reserved. 26 attending. total= $1200 (out of $2000 budgeted) for GSO
There is room for more people to come (6-7). Email Derek if you want to come.
